Delete your account

You can delete your StudyDork account at any time, from inside the app or by emailing us. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone, so it is worth reading what goes and what stays before you start.

Delete it in the app

This is the fastest way and it takes effect immediately.

  1. 1. Open StudyDork and go to Settings.
  2. 2. Tap Delete Account, listed as “Permanent and irreversible”.
  3. 3. Tell us why if you want to. This step is optional and you can skip it.
  4. 4. Type DELETE to confirm.

If you cannot get into the app, email us from the address on the account and we will delete it for you. We usually reply within 1 to 2 business days.

What gets deleted

Removed from our servers, and cleared from your device:

  • Your profile, including your email address and display name
  • Your focus session history and sleep history
  • Streaks, XP, league placement and other progress
  • Gems, cosmetic items and anything in your room
  • Friend connections and your study room
  • The app’s local data on your device

Your calendar events are never stored on our servers in the first place. They stay on your device and go when the app does.

What we keep, and for how long

A small amount of data outlives the account, either because the law requires it or because deleting it would break something for other people:

  • Purchase and transaction records, which we are required to keep for tax and accounting purposes
  • Moderation, report and enforcement records, including bans, so that a suspended account cannot be reset by deleting and signing up again
  • Chat messages you sent, which stay visible in the clan or room where you sent them but are no longer attributed to an active account. These are held for 12 months, or until that clan or room is deleted, whichever comes first
  • Reviews you left on other people’s rooms, which are anonymised rather than removed
  • Aggregated or anonymised data that can no longer identify you
  • Backups, which are purged on a rolling cycle within 30 days
  • Anything we are required to retain by law, or need in order to establish or defend a legal claim

Two things to do first

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Google Play or the Apple App Store, not by us, so cancel there first or you will keep being charged. On Android, open the Play Store, then Payments and subscriptions.

Unspent gems, cosmetic items and unopened chests are forfeited and cannot be restored, except where a refund is required by law, including under the Australian Consumer Law.
